5 Mindfulness Habits Every Redhead Should Practice Daily. Starting Now.

By: Miranda Howard

Empty calories, empty words, vacant thoughts. We’ve all been there. In times of extreme emotion or exhaustion or anxiety, it’s far too easy to camp out on the couch with a bag of Oreo’s, to answer questions with an absent-minded “uh huh,” to zone out in front of the television and allow ourselves to completely check out of reality. And, that’s okay. We all need a mental health break sometimes. That should be the exception for dealing with overwhelm, though, not the rule.

I find that we redheads tend to be a passionate and sensitive lot, so it’s easy for us to become bogged down by the responsibilities, stressors, and uncertainties of life. We feel deeply and even, in some cases, take on the feelings of others. I don’t know about y’all, but I want to feel everything, bad and good. Emotional depth, sincerity, and openness are beautiful traits common among redheads, but those qualities can become a heavy load to carry when life gets crazy. Luckily, there are some simple things we can all do every day that will allow us to be more present in the moment and less worried about what’s waiting down the road.

1. Be in your body.

Even if you only have the time and energy for five minutes, get yourself moving. Take a walk around your office building during your lunch break; sneak in a few squats while brushing your teeth; do some shoulder stretches and gentle spinal twists in your desk chair to give yourself a boost when you realize that you’ve been hunched over that spreadsheet all day. Movement is one of the most fundamental and vital components to a happy, emotionally satisfied life and is a great coping mechanism. That gorgeous red hair of yours is just begging to blow in the wind, to catch that glimmer of sunlight, to swish gracefully in a bouncy ponytail. Not to mention that exercise is great for your hair (as well as skin and nails and a whole host of other things), so if your shimmery locks are looking less than luscious, try some endorphins on for size!

READ: 5 Ways Redheads Can Live Their Best Live. Ever.

2. Say something nice to yourself.

I grew up hating my freckles, my pale skin, the almost transparent redhead eyebrows that disappeared against my equally translucent skin. It was just too easy to look in the mirror and criticize, especially when it seems to be a common experience among us to have been picked on to some degree for at least one of those attributes. I hope you’ve realized it already, but you were born to stand out. Those qualities give you an edge in that department and I hope you’ve come to love them. If you still find it too easy to criticize, if you do it absent-mindedly, I challenge you to look your lovely self in the eye at least once a day and commend yourself for being honest and smart, for not flashing a rude gesture at the guy who cut you off on your early morning sprint to the quick mart for the milk and cereal you forgot yesterday, for finishing that big project at work. I promise you, you’ve done many things already today to be proud of and, even if you haven’t made it out of bed or brushed your teeth, you are astounding and there is something to praise yourself for.

3. Take a breath.

I’m not telling you that you need to full on meditate (meditation is great and if you have any interest at all, you should look into it), but a few minutes of deep, conscious breathing, grounding, and focused awareness is great for finding perspective and coming down from high emotion. Give yourself the opportunity to be still with your thoughts and feelings, to process whatever is going on in your life, and to regain a sense of peace and calm. As I said above, we gingers are passionate and tend to deep emotion. We can get carried away by those passions from time to time. Some silence and stillness can help carry us back to ourselves, to the present moment, and to the realization that passion doesn’t have to become reaction.

4. Read. Do a Sudoku.

Learn to count to five in a foreign language. Every day is an opportunity for learning, for expanding awareness, for attempting to become an inhabitant of this big world full of adventure and the unknown instead of simply hibernating in the small corner of space that we inhabit. Redheads are known for being full of fire and thirst for life. Own that. Step outside of your comfort zone, even if it’s stepping into the pages of a book. Grow. Expand. Challenge yourself.

5. Reach out. Volunteer. Smile.

Buy someone’s lunch. Make dinner for a friend who’s struggling. Some of the moments when we are most present in our own lives is when we are doing good for others. Our lives are small and empty without connections. Strive to do one small thing every day that fosters an existing connection or forges a new one, that extends a hand to someone who needs one, that forces you to step outside of yourself. The secret redhead appreciation society that prompts all of us to exchange a smile or some small greeting of kinship and acceptance with every other redhead we encounter? Extend that to everyone. Let your circle grow large. Astound yourself and others with your muchness. Mean it.

We owe it ourselves to live a legitimate life, driven by meaningful and present connections. Sometimes we all need to be more aware. And, if you aren’t as present as you’d like to be today, strive to live more mindfully tomorrow. Every day presents an opportunity (or several) and opening up our awareness allows us to better reach out and grab for every one that comes our way. Live that fiery, glorious redhead passion and behold all that you are capable of.

Redheads: From Being Feared To A Beautiful Miracle

By: Alexandra Bricker

Have you ever heard someone say that gingers have no soul?  It’s a joke now, but it wasn’t always.  Did you know that Ancient Greeks thought that redheads would turn into vampires after we died?  Yeah!  They allegedly staked us in the heart right after we died to prevent us from coming back.

In Ancient Egypt, redheads were buried alive as sacrifice to the god Osiris.

Ironically, since I was a child, I’ve been in love with Ancient Egyptian culture and I wouldn’t have lasted a day!  We’ve been called everything from witches, vampires, werewolves, and even have been accused of being “of the devil.”  Of all these absurdities, one thing rings too true; history has not been nice to the gingers.

In fact, things got a little bit weird for us in the Middle Ages.  Redheaded babies were said to be conceived during menstruation and therefore were seen as “unclean.”  Not nice, and also pretty ignorant.  I feel terrible when I think about all the beautiful redheaded babies that should have gotten all the “ooohs and awwws” my daughter received.

In the 15th and 16th century witch hunts, women were burned at the stake simply for having red hair.

Jealous much?!

Christian Europe even has written history stereotyping redheads.  Dating back to Ancient Times, society has warned each other about redheads.  Some historians believe that Christian Europe was so hard on redheads because Judas, the betrayer of Christ, happened to be a ginger.  Redheads were seen to have hair of the fires of hell.  Satan was often depicted as a redhead as red was seen as the color of sexual desire and all things unholy.  In Michelangelo’s Temptation paintings, Eve is seen as blonde before eating the apple and a redhead after eating it.

Tsk. Tsk.

Things only got worse has for redheads as time went on.  Hitler even banned redhead marriage in order to avoid “deviated offspring.”  If you ask me, he was the most deviated offspring I’ve ever heard of.  How awful that we were once so repressed.

I don’t know about you, but I sure am happy that the worldview of redheads has changed!  Even if we do have to deal with the ‘gingerphobia’ (yes, it is a real thing) and dumb jokes at least none of us will be persecuted simply for our genes.

Today, we can celebrate our red hair for what it really is…a beautiful miracle.

Bride Didn’t Wear White: Color Options for Wedding & Special Occasion Dresses

By: Jessie Harbin

I always dreamed of getting married. I can’t help it. I love having a job and a career, but I’ve also always wanted to be a wife. So naturally, when that handsome 6-foot-4 boy got down on one knee last summer, I was thrilled. The wedding planning began and the search for the perfect dress was on.

I wanted traditional. I want everything to be traditional. I wanted a church wedding with bells and lace. As the dress hunt got started, I tried on a stark white gown. Standing before that dressing room mirror, I looked like an angel. Not one of those ethereal images you see in paintings of heaven.

No, I looked like one of the angels the Almighty sends when he needs to blind someone in a flash of light.

My skin blurred into one ghostly form with the dress.

Clearly there are few fair skin wedding designers out there who understand we need a bit of color. Even with other special occasion gowns, there are (albeit harder to find) options instead of ream-of-paper white:

1. Champagne: These dresses are growing in popularity, according to Pinterest and several bridal salon saleswomen. Then again, they probably would have told me neon green dresses were in style if I had expressed an interest.

2. Pale pink: Some wedding dresses have a pale pink overlay on top of the white, adding some color to a traditional dress.

3. Purple: Julianne Moore wore a lilac Prada wedding dress when she married husband Bart Freundlich in August 2003. The non-traditional dress was an understated and stylish choice for their backyard wedding in New York City.

4. Embroidered: I’ve noticed a lot of white dresses that offer embellishments around the neckline, arms and hem. That will give you a bit of color without sacrificing your traditional white.

5. Vintage: I tried on several vintage dresses that were aged–but not yellowed. There is a big difference. If you get a vintage dress, expect some of the color to come out with a professional laundering. This depends on how the garment was stored and how old it was. Keep in mind that sizes have changed a lot, so don’t get discouraged if you wear a bigger size than your normal clothes.

6. Heirloom: I’m going this route. I am wearing my mother’s dress, it’s candlelight white with a Queen Anne neckline and long lace sleeves. The top portion didn’t fit–partially because she became an aerobics instructor before her wedding and lost 40 pounds–but we found a local seamstress who agreed to re-work the top into something more my style and size for about $200.

Hint of Tint for Redheads: Sold Out Product Comes To Life on Beauty Tour

How to be a Redhead has collaborated with Billion Dollar Brows for a custom ‘Red’ shade of their signature brow gel, the Hint of Tint.

Based in Beverly Hills, Billion Dollar Brows is the only cosmetics company solely dedicated to eyebrows. “Redheads need extra attention in the brow area because their eyebrow hair is extremely fair,” says Natalie Plain, co-founder of Billion Dollar Brows. “This is where we come in! Many traditional brow products for redheads have beige or grey undertones, which doesn’t look natural.”

Featured in The New York Times by How to be a Redhead, the redhead-beauty obsessed sisters have always been a fan of Billion Dollar Brows’ Hint of Tint in ‘Blonde’. “We’ve always loved it because it is an eyebrow gel, but with a subtle tint to it,” says Stephanie Vendetti, co-founder of How to be a Redhead. “We always wished it was more red; and after the Times article was published, both teams decided the Hint of Tint needed to be re-created for redheads.”

Together, How to be a Redhead and Billion Dollar Brows created a redhead-specific shade.

Apart from the color, the ingredients were also well thought out; the product contains aloe leaf extract to condition eyebrow hairs. Redheads usually have coarse hair, and the product works to soften hairs while adding shape and color. See more ingredient information here.

“Redheads have been ignored in the eyebrow department for years, and just like us, have probably bought too many products hoping one would work,” says Adrienne Vendetti, co-founder of How to be a Redhead. “This is everything in one easy product.” The gel-like product has a rich auburn shade, adds instant fullness to brows, provides superior color and control, lasts all day and is water resistant.

The formula will not run, flake or transfer, but is easily removed with cleanser. This color is a perfect reddish brown that complements all redhead eyebrow tones. And, the packaging features How to be a Redhead’s ‘Redhead Friendly’-Approved logo.

Billion Dollar Brows is proudly the Official Eyebrow Sponsor for the 5 city Rock it like a Redhead Beauty Tour. Beginning in Austin, Texas on April 30th, 2015, the Vendetti sisters will apply the product to attendees — showing the easy, 1 step process and how beneficial it is for redheads.

After the tour premieres in The Lone Star State, it heads to Nashville, Seattle, Chicago and New York City. The Hint of Tint is currently sold out on HowtobeaRedhead.com, but attendees will be able to purchase the Hint of Tint at the live, red carpet events!

HOW TO USE THE PRODUCT:

Using the mascara wand applicator, gently sweep the wand across your brow line to add color and hold. The more you apply, the deeper the color. Tip: If you see excess product, do not rub it off! It will blend into hair.

3 Beauty-Inspired Gift Baskets for Redhead Moms

Updated on 5/8/2018

Green Thumb Basket:

My mom’s favorite thing to do is work in her garden, but redhead moms with fair skin always have to be more cautious about the time they spend in the sun. Here are some great gift ideas for making sure your mom can get her hands dirty, while staying beautiful at the same time:

1. Floppy garden hat: Target has some very cute and inexpensive floppy-brimmed hats in a variety of colors that are sure to keep your mom looking stylish while protecting her from the summer sun.  I’ll be buying my mom the traditional straw-colored “A New Day”. Hope you’re not reading this, mom.

2. Sunscreen/moisturizer duo: If your mom is a redhead or has fair skin like you do, I suggest Aveeno Broad Spectrum SPF 30.  It’s lightweight, so she can wear it all day.

READ: 10 Reasons Every Redhead Should Love Julianne Moore

3. Lip balm: Gardeners love Burt’s Bees products and so do I. I prefer the classic beeswax balm, but Burt makes a variety formulas for your mother’s specific lip-nourishing needs.

4. Garden gloves and “mani-pedi” gift card: Don’t let your mother’s green thumbs take a beating.  Protect them with her favorite style of garden gloves, then take her out for a nice mani-pedi.

5. Add fresh flowers and a few vintage seed packets to this basket to finish up the look.

R&R Basket:

A mother’s job is never done, and with all the hard work our moms do on a daily basis, they deserve a chance to unwind.  Here are some gift ideas that will help your mom get that much needed R&R.

1. Face mask: The First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask is great for sensitive skin.  It contains soothing oatmeal, shea butter, and is fragrance and dye-free.

2. Foot cream: It’s sandal season, which for my mom means dry feet and cracked heels.  Your mom will love the ‘Heel of Approval’ cracked heel treatment from Bath & Body Works.  Her feet will feel smoother with every use.

3. Argan oil: If you haven’t heard yet, argan oil is a must-have skin and hair product for redheads!  The results will speak for themselves.

4. New pillow, sheets, and massage gift card: Take your mom out for a relaxing massage, and then send her home to curl up with a comfy pillow and a fresh set of sheets.  It’s your mom, so go ahead a splurge for that higher thread-count.

5. Top this basket off with her favorite bottle of wine to help her unwind at the end of a long day.

Fit and Fabulous Basket:

If you’re the daughter of a health-conscious mom, here are some Mother’s Day gift ideas that are sure to keep her looking fit and fabulous all year long.

1. Dark chocolate: Chocolate is always a popular Mother’s Day gift, but let’s ditch the milk chocolate this year and opt for a smooth dark chocolate with less sugar and fewer calories instead.  The antioxidants in dark chocolate are not only good for redheads’ sensitive skin, but are also known to help with heart disease and other illnesses.  One of my mom’s favorites is the Ghirardelli Intense Dark Raspberry Radiance.

2. Fit Bit: Get one for your mom and one for you! You will be able to track each others steps and stay healthy together.

3. Water bottle with fruit-infuser: The AdNArt FlavourIt glass water bottle is an inexpensive and stylish way to add a splash of flavor to your mom’s water.  Supposedly watermelon is the best infused fruit to fight skin-aging, while kiwi contains zinc, necessary for keeping hair, skin, teeth, and nails healthy.

4. Yoga mat and gift card to a local studio: Give your mom the opportunity to experience the many physical and mental health benefits that come with practicing yoga.

5. Personalize this gift basket with a new playlist created just for your mom and a pair of Yurbuds sport earphones to keep her rocking like a redhead during her work-outs.

Our moms are the most beautiful women in our lives, so let’s treat them to something special this Mother’s Day. And, don’t forget to thank your mom for giving you life and great head of red hair.

Confessions: The 7 Life Lessons of a Redhead

“Red hair is my life long sorrow.”

-Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables, by LM Montgomery

I have a confession to make. I am a natural redhead. My sister is a natural redhead. My late paternal grandmother was a natural redhead. I have several cousins on my mother’s side of the family who are natural redheads.

Statistically speaking, compared to other hair colors, redheads make up about 1-2% of the population. While most would assume that all redheads can trace their ancestry to Ireland, natural redheads can be found all over the world. Most notably, natural red hair occurs in Northern and Western Europe. It can also be found among Ashkenazi Jews (Jews of Eastern European descent), of which I am one.

Unlike Anne of Green Gables, red hair does not need to be your life long sorrow! Here are the 7 life lessons I’ve learned throughout my years as a redhead:

    1. Embrace your hair color.

When you’re young, you will probably be teased mercilessly. Ignore the haters. Women will spend an incredible amount of money to match the color that you have naturally. When I was growing up, several of my parent’s friends would ask for a snip of my hair to take to the salon.

    2. The boys and girls who ignored or teased you during your awkward teenage years will come to appreciate your unique beauty when they grow up.

    Enough said.

    3. You can pick and choose the redhead cultural icons that you look to for inspiration.

Ariel, Lucy and Anne Shirley kept me sane. In my early adulthood, Grace Adler proved there was nothing wrong my hair color.

READ: 10 Ways To Incorporate The Little Mermaid In Your Everyday Look

    4. Wear colors that flatter your skin tone.

My favorite colors are the darker, muted colors. Green, blue, brown, black and purple make up the rainbow of colors in my closet.

READ: Redheads, The Colors You Should Be Wearing

    5. One of the beauties of being a natural redhead is that as we age, unlike other hair colors, we do not go gray right away.

I stated earlier that my late paternal grandmother was a redhead. By the time I was born, her hair had faded to blonde. She only went completely gray towards the end of her life.

    6. Wear sunscreen, especially in the summertime.

The higher the SPF, the more protection you have.

    7. And finally, just go with it. You are a redhead!

Instead of hating it, love it. Embrace the fact that you stand out in a crowd. Life’s too short to hate what others wish they could have.

Makeup 101: How Long Your Fave Redhead-Friendly Products Really Last

    Edited: September 12th, 2023

There’s no doubt that most redheads, like any other hair color, love their makeup. Wearing it can make some of us feel even more beautiful and confident. But, it’s not cute when your sensitive skin starts to breakout or you develop other skin problems due to old makeup. Expired makeup can create unhealthy bacteria, not to mention, your skin can appear dull and lifeless. If you find yourself having a hard time parting ways with that high-end mascara you bought for $28 or a favorite lipstick you bought in 2018, it’s time to toss it for the goodness of your health and overall beauty.

Redheads, our first priority should always be to feel beautiful and confident! Here’s a little guide to help you know when it’s time to toss your makeup.

    1. MASCARA. Expiration date: 2-3 months

Signs you need to replace it: Flaking, clumping, dries out or has an odor.

How and why it goes bad: Pumping the wand in and out of the tube constantly drags air and potential germs into the product. The air also aids in drying the product out quicker. Using old mascara can cause irritation, sties or eye infections.

    2. EYESHADOW. Expiration: 1-2 years

Signs you need to replace it: It crumbles, dries out or loses its pigmentation.

How it goes bad: Using your fingers to apply it to your eyes can transfer bacteria. And, always remember to wipe your eyeshadow cases regularly to keep them clean.

    3. PENCIL EYELINER. Expiration: Up to 2 years

Signs you need to replace it: There are no real signs for whether a liner has gone bad, but if you notice it’s dry or starts to smell it probably means it’s expired.

How it goes bad: Since it’s applied so close to the eye, bacteria can spread easily. To try to prolong the life of a pencil, try sharpening it often to keep it clean. Just remember to keep your sharpener clean as well; I recommend cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol.

    4. LIQUID EYELINER. Expiration: 2-3 months

Signs you need to replace it: Dries out or smells.

How it goes bad: Just like with mascara, constantly using a pumping motion drags air and potential germs into the product. Makeup traps bacteria. The air also aids in drying the product out quicker.

    5. FOUNDATION. Expiration: 6 months -1 year

Signs you need to replace it: Foundation starts to separate, smell or change color.

How it goes bad: Using your hands, dirty brushes or sponges can make your foundation get bacteria in it and go bad.

    6. CONCEALER. Expiration: 1 year

Signs you need to replace it: Starts to separate or dries out.

How it goes bad: We all tend to cover a blemish in the least hygienic way by touching the spot with the brush and then dipping it back into the product. This just puts bacteria back into the product over and over again (not good in the healing process of the blemish either).

    7. BLUSH: Powder blush, 2 years. Cream blush, 1 year

Signs you need to replace it: Becomes hard or chalky.

How it goes bad: Using dirty makeup brushes to apply it can transfer bacteria.

    8. LIPSTICK/LIP BALM. Expiration: 1 year

Signs you need to replace it: Drying, smelling.

How it goes bad: Lipsticks contain oils that will eventually go bad on their own. You can try to use a tissue to wipe the surface layer to remove sitting bacteria.

    9. MAKEUP SPONGES: Begins to smell or fall apart

Signs you need to replace it: permanently stained by your foundation, starting to smell or fall apart.

How it goes bad: Repeatedly using it without cleaning.

    10. MAKEUP BRUSHES: Whenever it breaks, looks very dirty or doesn’t apply makeup as smoothly as it did in the beginning

Signs you need to replace it: weak bristles, wear & tear.

How it goes bad: Lots of use, poor cleaning practices. Try cleaning your makeup brushes once or twice a week with a brush cleaner, mild face cleanser or baby shampoo then air dry them before using them again.

Freckle, Redhead and Budget Friendly Summer Makeup Products

Summertime is in full swing and you know what that means: sun’s out, freckles out! If you’re like me, you may have spent some of your teenage years searching for the perfect fair-skinned concealer to hide those freckles, or “angel kisses,” as my mother called them. Our freckles may have set us apart from the crowd, but who wants to blend in? Not me! Let’s celebrate our uniqueness by setting our freckles free.

Here are 5 redhead-tested products to ensure your freckles shine this summer:

    1. Aveeno Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30

While there is nothing dangerous about freckles themselves, the fact that we have them means we probably also have fair skin. And, if we have fair skin, then we are more susceptible to those dangerous UV rays that can cause skin cancer. It’s very important that we wear plenty of sunscreen during these summer months – especially in the areas where we are freckly.

I love that the summer sun brings out my freckles, but I don’t want it doing damage to my skin. I use this Aveeno moisturizer-sunscreen duo daily. It goes on light and does not leave my skin feeling greasy. This particular light-weight moisturizer is also fragrance-free, great for sensitive skin, and easy on your wallet.

Aveeno Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 (Shop now)

    2. Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation

This light powder foundation will eliminate shine and even out your skin tone. I prefer it to liquid foundation, which tends to go on too thick, covering all my freckles. I use this Neutrogena powder foundation year-round. I love the ‘Classic Ivory’ shade, which is a little lighter than my actual skin tone during the summer months. It blends in well and allows my freckles to peek through.

Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation, (Shop now

    3. Maybelline Fit Me! Blush

A general rule of thumb if we want your freckles to stand out: stick to blushes in pink or coral shades. Coppers and bronzes tend to blotch our skin’s appearance and blend our freckles together rather than making them pop.  These colors should be easy to find since pinks and corals are the go-to shades for summer anyway. Right now, I am wearing Maybelline’s Fit Me! blush in ‘Medium Pink’, but I also love it in ‘Medium Coral’. It’s inexpensive, so go ahead and buy both shades.

Maybelline Fit Me! Blush, (Shop now)

READ: Save or Splurge, The Best Blush Choices for Redheads

    4. Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser

Summer sun causes summer sweat, which can lead to breakouts. One great thing about our freckles is that they help camouflage those unwanted blemishes, but that doesn’t mean we want to keep the blemishes around to steal our freckles’ thunder! I like this product because it helps fight breakouts without over-drying. It is oil-free, hypoallergenic, and gently exfoliates to remove the day’s grime or sunscreen residue.

And, yes, I know this is my second Aveeno product-plug, but if it’s good enough for Jennifer Aniston, it’s good enough for me. I mean, have you seen the woman’s skin?

Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser, (Shop now)

    5. Water

In the long run, the best thing you can do for your skin and your freckles this summer is to drink plenty of water.  Here’s the deal: your skin is an organ. And, just like other organs in the body, it’s made up of cells. And, just like other cells, skin cells need water to survive. Dehydration can cause your skin to become dry and tight, making it more prone to wrinkling. Plus, drinking plenty of water will help rid your body of toxins, leaving your skin and freckles with a radiant, healthy glow.

Want to try a water-based facial spray to keep your skin hydrated all day long? Try Evian Mineral Spray Natural Mineral Water Facial Spray.

These products are redhead-tested, approved, and won’t break your budget. In fact, they can all be found at your local drugstore. So, let’s put a fresh, freckled face forward this summer, and embrace another one of the beautiful things about being a redhead.

Redheads enter a hair salon and all eyes are on them. Redheads are like goddesses! Everyone admires red hair and wants to be best friends.

Here are 7 things you can expect to hear when going for a cut, blowout or updo:

First question: “Is that your natural redhair?” And someone immediately touches it to make sure you’re telling the truth 🤣👩🏻‍🦰 #relateable #fyp

    1. “Is this your natural hair color?”

The #1 question a redhead gets every single time.

    2. “I really wanted my daughter to have your color. She had red hair as a baby, but now she’s blonde/brunette.”

Natural redheads are only 2% of the population.

    3. “Is your boyfriend/husband a redhead too?”

They will probably also ask, “Do you have redheaded sisters and brothers?” and “Are one of your parents a redhead?”

    4. “I want her color! How much is it?”

This is so flattering. Everyone wants to be the girl with the red hair.

    5.  Stylist: “You can never get to this color out of a bottle.”

This is also when the stylist checks the hair to make “sure” it’s really real red hair.

    6. “You should be a hair model!”

Thank you, but I’m too scared they’ll ruin it…

    7. “Don’t you dare dye your hair! Ever!”

Sometimes, you can get curious to know what you’d look like with a different hair color. But,then you come back to your senses. You couldn’t imagine yourself with another color.

      Meet Alison

The only time Alison’s hair would be let down was in the privacy of her bedroom. “I always kept it long, but ALWAYS tied up. I joked if I let my hair out, somebody would lose an eye,” she said. “I never realized how lucky I was to have such unique hair until I saw the beauty of other redheads.” Alison now no longer straightens her hair to death nor keeps it contained in a tight bun or braid. She allows her red mane to flow free and has fallen in love with it saying, “It’s a true part of my personality.”
