If you love scrolling through your FYP on TikTok, then you might have seen a haircut trend called the “butterfly cut”. It being asked for in-salons all over the place, but now people have taken their hair into their own hands and are doing the cut at home.
We know. You might be thinking, “I can’t cut my own hair.” We thought the same thing and frankly, it sounds terrifying because most at-home haircuts end in disaster. But, from a simple TikTok search you can see hundreds of people cutting their own hair into a butterfly cut using a simple sectioning method, and it actually looks pretty good. If you’re brave enough to attempt this at-home haircut, make sure to brush your hair out thoroughly, take your time when parting the hair, invest in some sharp scissors (preferably hair scissors), and avoid taking off too much at once.
The method involves splitting the hair into two sections and securing them with hair ties. You then flip the hair over before cutting each section all one length. If you want you can clean up the ends by snipping upwards to make it less blunt. Then simply flip the hair back over and remove the hair ties. The result? Big bouncy layers.
