This goes out to all my redheaded sisters who want to know how to go out looking fabulous with minimal effort. Some days there just isn’t enough time to primp for as long as you might normally.
First, I eschew all makeup. I have the rosy cheeks so common amongst redheads, and while my eyelashes are so pale and short as to be invisible, ain’t nobody got time for that when the coffee is brewing!
Here are my minimalist redhead makeup tips for those ultimate lazy days:
If I’m feeling particularly fancy, I’ll whip on some brown mascara (not black – too dark for me!). I’ve always gone with the cheapest option here because I use it so rarely. Most days I leave my bottom lashes the way they are and apply mascara only on the top.
2. Facial Lotion
I use a facial lotion that includes an SPF every morning. That is crucial. I’m already rocking the rosy complexion: no need to become a lobster. The SPF does our future selves all sorts of favors. I’ve found Olay Complete Lotion Moisturizer with SPF 15 works beautifully for my skin.
Third, and most important, is my red hair. With an enormous mane of red curls, it’s frustrating if my curls don’t cooperate. But, I can’t always spend much time on them. I’ve come to rely entirely on Cantu Coconut Curling Cream. It smells heavenly, and I can put as much or as little as I want in my hair. It keeps down my frizz and helps define my curls, but doesn’t ever get crunchy.
Finally, I always keep C.O. Bigelow All Purpose Classic Rose Salve Lip Balm in my purse. I use that stuff on my lips, my cuticles, my elbows – you name it, I’ve used it there. I can’t get over the subtle rose smell, and it’s not oily or sticky. It’s a lifesaver.
Some days just aren’t conducive to getting all dolled up. When you want to feel comfortable leaving the house with a minimum of effort, these products will have your back. Do you have other tricks you use on days you’re feeling less interested in making yourself up?
Rock it like a Redhead!
