Ed Sheeran posted a video to Instagram in July recapping his show in Chicago and ended the post with “Autumn is coming, tell a friend”. We would later learn he was hinting news about his new album dropping this fall, which here at How to be a Redhead we refer to the season of leaves as “Redhead Season”.
This season celebrates redhead-approved colors such as deep cranberries, burnt oranges and darker shades, like brown and green. Those same colors are replicated every year when the leaves begin to turn. They not only represent complementary fashion colors, but the traditional red leaves showcase the many tones of red hair too! There is true beauty when red hair camouflages into autumn leaves. This is exactly why fall is called autumn Redhead Season.
Let’s take a look at the many hints Ed Sheeran dropped about his new fall album:
Fans caught on quickly and made comments like, “Is he moving from mathematic albums to seasons 👀 redheads do love autumn…”.
We really do.
Then, on August 1st, Sheeran posted an old meme of himself standing in what looks like an area filled with fall leaves, but is actually just a bunch of tiny Ed Sheeran heads. He captioned the photo “Autumn is coming.”
In the weeks following, Sheeran posted two satirical videos from fictional brands called “The Gingerbread Man Shopping Channel” and “The Gingerbread Man Travel Agency”. Both videos were fall-themed. Then, after a few more cryptic fall messages scattered into show recap posts, we got the announcement.
Ed Sheeran’s new album “Autumn Variations” is coming September 29th just in time for Redhead Season. This is the first album he is releasing on his own record label called Gingerbread Man Records.
Following the announcement, Sheeran posted a video celebrating the announcement of the album and the launch of the Pumpkin Spice Latte in a Starbucks in Seattle. Fans left comments like “Ed is in his pumpkin era 🔥🎃” and “The penultimate location and spice to make it clear: Autumn is here! 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️”.
We love seeing Ed Sheeran embrace his red hair with his new record label, and can’t wait for all the Redhead Season songs to come. We just love another redhead who loves this season as much as we do.
