Probably the most popular beauty gift under the tree this year was the Dyson Airwrap. This air-based styler has been around for a few years now but has blown up on social media as the must-have beauty tool. But, do we recommend it for redheads? Our hair is usually coarser, we want to keep our hair vibrant and is it worth the hefty price tag?
Let us tell you a bit about it. The tool is made by Dyson, who is probably best known for their vacuums, and has all sorts of cool technology to give your hair body and volume with less heat damage than other hot tools. The Dyson allows users to achieve that blowout look either straight or curled right at home without a trip to the salon. With numerous attachments, the Dyson Airwrap has become an all-in-one tool for home styling. Plus there are extra barrels you can buy for those with super long hair!
The Airwrap comes in three kits: one for fine hair ($499.99), one for coarse hair ($499.99), and one that contains the attachments for both ($549.99). Each set features a mini, more travel-friendly version of the Dyson dryer. The top of the dryer then detaches to add the styling pieces: two 1.2-inch barrels (for fine and coarse hair), two 1.6-inch barrels, a firm brush for coarse hair, and a soft and round brush for fine hair. All the attachments are heavy-duty and lock solidly in place.
The brush attachment is fairly intuitive to use. And the whole thing is way lighter than it looks. You just drag a small section from root to tip on top, and then again from underneath, lifting your hair slightly at the root to give a volume boost.
The trick is to get your hair about 80% dry with the brush (or the dryer if your hair is already fairly straight) before moving on to the curler attachments.
Overall, we do recommend the Dyson Airwrap for redheads. It’s easy on the hair, makes red hair look great — and if you’re actively going to get blowouts, this will save you money in the long run.
