Finding the right products for your short hair can be a challenge. Ahead, I’m sharing my favorite ‘redhead friendly’ styling products that work well with short locks.
1. Shampoo:
Finally Glossy® Shine & Luminosity Shampoo for Redheads: It not only gives hair shine but also makes hair look like I just came from the salon. It provides my red strands (and bob) with a shimmery gloss and can be used on a daily basis. This clean formula is formulated with Vitamin B3, olive oil, coconut oil and green tea.
2. Distilled vinegar:
This is a no-brainer. When you have short hair, you tend to use more products to keep the style set. I use vinegar as a rinse after shampooing to further cleanse my red hair of styling residue. The vinegar leaves my hair really shiny and soft. I buy it by the gallon, and fill an empty shampoo or conditioner bottle with it.
Worried about smelling like vinegar? It will go away as soon as it’s dried.
Optional: You can also use apple cider vinegar as a replacement for normal distilled vinegar if you have it at home!
3. Styling Spray:
Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Hydromist Blowout Spray: It really creates a sleek ‘I just came from the blow out bar’ look. The mist is so light and fine that hair has a bounciness that’s not often achieved with other blowout sprays. All it takes is just a few spritzes to detangle and smooth out snarls (which many gingers, like myself, have after a shampooing because of the coarseness).
4. Hair Gel:
Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue Styling Gel: This all-natural unscented gel is great for creating spiky looks with pixie cuts along with giving some lift at the crown for a bob or lob. It’s made with horse chestnut and witch hazel and leaves hair soft; most hair gels leave strands sticky and stiff. I use this sparingly on my roots to give some lift when I’m styling it into a sleek bob.
5. Mousse:
Giovanni Hair Styling Foam, Natural Mousse Air-Turbo Charged Don’t be fooled by what’s inside the bottle. It is a liquid that gets foamed when pumped and gives hair amazing hold. A golf ball size puff is all you need. I like it for textured looks – I apply it to wet hair before using a blow dryer and curling iron to create a textured, beachy look. It can be used before styling a sleek look too. A huge plus is that it doesn’t leave hair feeling tacky or sticky to the touch.
These are the tools in my arsenal to make my strawberry blonde bob look juicier. I can’t imagine life without them.
Rock it like a Redhead!
