The Bedtime Dry Shampoo Hack Redheads Need To Know About

Wake Up With Fresh, Clean (Looking) Hair

If you want to prolong your blowout, this is the trick you need to know about. If you enjoy not washing your hair and keeping your style in tact, this simple trick might cut down your washing routine to once (maybe twice) a week. If you’re a redhead with thick hair and oily roots, this is ideal for you, too.

It all starts with the shining product: dry shampoo.

Dry shampoo is both a blessing and a curse. It is perfect for when you don’t have time to wash your hair, or need to extend your style one more day before washing. The downside of dry shampoo is it can leave your hair with residue and a gross texture. Want to know how to get clean-looking and feel-great red hair?

The trick is to sleep in your dry shampoo!

Obviously, this doesn’t work if you’re running late, but if your hair is starting to look or feel a little oily and you’ve still got a day or two before wash day, this is the perfect trick. Ideally, dry shampoo needs to sit on the hair to absorb the oils fully. This may why your hair has the yucky residue feeling when you first apply and quickly move on to the next task in your day.

How to apply dry shampoo before bed:

Apply dry shampoo before bed and don’t brush it out. Let it sit overnight. You may have to massage a few quarters worth before you head out the door the next day, but you’ll notice bouncy, voluminous hair because you allowed the dry shampoo to settle in your hair for many hours. The dry shampoo will soak up the oils in your hair while you sleep and waking up with gorgeous red hair is always the goal.

Some cons:

Dry shampoo can leave residue on your pillow, and dirt and other residues on your pillow could lead to breakouts on your face or neck. To avoid this, wash your pillowcase often, and/or wrap your hair in a silk scarf while you sleep to reduce residue.

Rock it like a Redhead!
