Quality haircare products are a great way to keep your red hair happy and healthy, but the order in which you apply them matters! By layering your products in the correct way, you ensure your hair is reaping the benefits from every single one.

Shampoo

The first thing you want to do is get your hair nice and clean. This will help to remove any build-up or excess oils, leaving you with a blank canvas to start the nourishing process.

If you are looking for redhead-approved shampoo, look no further:

Rinse Treatments

Any hair treatment like a mask that sits for a bit and then gets rinsed out should go next. Applying these products straight to clean, wet hair and allow them to soak in and to really penetrate the hair.

Conditioner

Follow up your treatments with a conditioner, this will help you start adding some of the moisture back into your locks and get them nice and smooth.

Leave in Treatment

Get out of the shower and ring some of the water out of your hair so it’s damp but not soaked. Then you want to apply any leave-in treatments

Heat Protectant

If you plan to blow dry or heat style your hair now is the time to apply your heat protection. Make sure to fully saturate your locks from roots to ends and distribute with a comb.

Mousse / Gel

For curly-haired redheads or those who like some extra volume, now is a good time for your mousses and light gels. These will help to hold natural curls in place or add volume.

Oils and Serums

Once your hair is dry, you want to apply your oils and serums for added softness and shine. You can also apply these before you dry if you prefer or if you have a heavier oil that shouldn’t be applied to dry hair.

Hairspray / Dry Shampoo

Wait until after drying and styling to apply any hairspray or dry shampoo. These products don’t mix well with heat so you don’t want to apply them and then use hot tools

Soft Microfiber Hair Towel

When drying your hair opt to use a microfiber towel! Introducing the How to be a Redhead Soft Microfiber Hair Towel for Redheads. Because wet hair is at its most vulnerable, this custom microfiber towel gently and carefully absorbs moisture from your red hair and dries it quickly, all while protecting it from stretching and breakage. This design is uniquely shaped to wrap all of your hair securely (no matter the length), with an elastic strap to comfortably keep things in place. Your hair journey starts here, redheads.
