Yes, Red Hair Can Benefit From Hyaluronic Acid — The Experts Explain Why

Breaking Down the Trending TikTok Hair Hack

You may have seen some trending TikTok videos where people are applying the skin serum, Hyaluronic Acid to their hair. If you have followed us for quite some time, you know we adore Hyaluronic Acid for redhead skin and frequently have it featured in an H2BAR Box. The videos go on to show how when applied every day the serum makes the hair look and feel softer and more manageable. We know not every hack you see online works, and not every hack is actually good for you, so should we be applying Hyaluronic Acid to our hair?

Hyaluronic Acid has the potential to be really good for your hair, if your hair is dry, damaged, exposed to chlorine and other drying chemicals, or your hair is dried out from color treatments. The problem with using Hyaluronic Acid is unless it’s combined with other hydrating ingredients, it might actually cause your hair to become drier over time.

When applying the skin product to your hair, you’re not necessarily getting that same moisture barrier afterward unless another product is used with it (moisturizer, oils, etc).

One way you could get the benefits of Hyaluronic Acid without risking further dryness is to use a hair product containing Hyaluronic Acid and other hydrating ingredients, or use an oil like Argan or JoJoba afterward.
