Melanie Specht started her career on the American television soap opera The Young and the Restless and soon moved on to small television roles in The Ex List in 2009, Entourage in 2010 and Body of Proof in 2011. But, she has taken on her biggest role yet. . Specht appears in the Michael Bay directed upcoming American film Transformers: Age of Extinction. The film premieres on June 27, 2014 with stars like Nicola Peltz, Mark Wahlberg, T.J. Miller (and many more) starring in the much anticipated movie. We had the opportunity to talk with Specht about her career, her love for her long red hair and top beauty secrets.

H2BAR: How did you get into acting?

MS: Actually, I was acting long before I became acquainted with it as a career. My first experience occurred when I was four years old and I attended my older sister’s performance in Snow White. I was not in the play and I didn’t like being left out. So right at the beginning of the performance on opening night I rushed up onto the stage and jumped into the narrator’s lap just as the curtain was opening. I was determined to be part of the play! That determination led me from college graduate to full-fledged actress.

H2BAR: Do you have a favorite film you’ve worked on recently?

MS: Yes! The soon to be released Transformers: Age of Extinction.

H2BAR: Why do you love being a redhead?

MS: I love being a redhead because we are limited editions.

H2BAR: Did you grow up with many redheads in your family?

MS: Unfortunately I didn’t but the red hair gene is strong in my ancestry. My great great maternal grandmother was from Ireland and was a fiery redhead. My great grandfather was a redhead throughout his life and I was born with red hair.

H2BAR: Who is your favorite redhead actress?

MS: I actually have two! The first, Maureen O’Hara, is an Irish actress known for playing fiercely passionate heroines. She exemplified qualities of boldness, feisty courage and fiery independence of spirit in her roles. The other red haired actress is Lucille Ball. I admire Lucy for her unique comedic individualism. She’s an icon for hysterical brilliance. As Lucille Ball once said: “Once in his life, every man is entitled to fall in love with a gorgeous redhead!” I certainly agree!!

H2BAR: How would you describe your style?

MS: My style is very versatile. JLo’s style is right up my alley. I love to dress up with makeup and a sexy pair of stilettos but I also love to be super chill and throw on a pair of Jordans!

H2BAR: Favorite hair products to use on your red locks?

MS: My favorite hair product is DermOrganic Leave-In Spray Therapy. It’s an all-natural product that coats and protects my hair from sun damage and fading which is very important for us redheads to avoid. It keeps my hair healthy, shiny and naturally conditioned with argon oil.

H2BAR: What is the one thing you cannot live without in your makeup bag?

MS: The one thing in my makeup bag I can’t live without is my Lancome Virtuose mascara in Black Carat. It richly enhances my lashes and makes my eyes pop.

H2BAR: Do you rock bold lips in the summertime? If so, what is your favorite?

MS: Of course! One of my favorite colors to wear is Mac’s Pro Longwear in A50. I love the deep brick red shade.

MS: At Point de Vue Salon by Muriel Mastey. She’s amazing!

H2BAR: If you weren’t an actress, what would you be?

MS: Presently I can’t conceive of myself doing anything else. I’m following my bliss.

H2BAR: What is the best ‘one-liner’ you’ve heard regarding your red hair?

MS: The best ‘one-liner’ phrase I’ve heard regarding my red hair is, “Invisibility is impossible.”

H2BAR: What is the one piece of confidence advice you would give to young redhead girls?

MS: The one piece of advice I would give to redheads is to rock those red locks with confidence and love your uniqueness!
