4 Simple Tips To Have a ‘Redhead Friendly’ Summer

It can be tough to be a redhead in the summer!

Let’s face it, summertime is a perfect chance for tasty ice cream treats, boating on the lake, floating around in the pool with friends, or getting a little bit of sunshine on the grass. However, as a redhead, there are some extra steps you need to take to keep yourself protected from those harsh UV rays, along with tips when it comes to beauty care.

Here are my top four tips when it comes to being a redhead in the summer, and how you can survive those sizzling temperatures:

1. Sunburns happen but try your very best to prevent them.

I am extremely pale, so whenever I am out in the sun I pile on the SPF. There are a variety of ways you can get your SPF. I like to use Coola Body SPF 30 Unscented Moisturizer. Not only does it have SPF 30 in it, but it does not irritate my sensitive skin. Plus, it doesn’t have a typical sunscreen smell ––you know what I am talking about!

2. Try a waterproof mascara.

When it comes to my summertime beauty routine, I love wearing waterproof mascaras. My favorite one lately is Dior Diorshow Lash-Extension Effect Volume Mascara. This mascara gives me extra definition and lasts throughout the day, even when I decide that I want to take a dip in the pool.

3. Less is more.

This is especially true when it comes to wearing foundation in the summer months. I like to wear a tinted moisturizer, such as Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. It glides on like a dream and will provide just the amount of coverage.

4. Bronze up.

As a fair-skinned redhead, my favorite little trick is to put on bronzer to make it look like I’ve spent hours in the summer (but most likely didn’t). Take a large fluffy brush, swirl it in your favorite bronzer, and then apply it to your cheekbones, bridge of your nose and temples to give you a nice glow. I like to apply just a little bit at the start and build as I go.
