Is Miranda’s Red Hair on “And Just Like That” a Symbol? We Think So.

From Red to Gray and Back To Red Again

When “And Just Like That” aired in 2021, it gave “Sex and the City” fans the next chapter they had always dreamed of. After almost 2 decades, the iconic girl gang of the 90s and early 2000s was back and ready to take on the world as their older, wiser selves. While the show hit a nostalgia we didn’t know we needed, there was one thing missing we couldn’t ignore…the missing red hair.

Miranda (played by Cynthia Nixon) had been a redhead icon in the original show, and now her signature look was gone. In it’s place was the blonde, gray hair of a much older woman. Charlotte, played by Kristin Davis, even tells Miranda that white hair ages her.

When we first reported on this shocking missing piece, we wondered if the red hair would ever return.

But, soon after, the Instagram account @everyoutfitonsatc released a photo from an episode we had yet to see. It showed Cynthia Nixon shooting a scene with red hair again.

As it turns out, the red hair made its return in the Season 1 finale (hooray!) We rejoiced: Miranda was a redhead again.

With Season 2 underway, Miranda’s hair hair is more vibrant than ever. This shift back to red feels like a sign. The gray symbolized her old life and the red is her returning to herself — while also growing into a new relationship and embracing motherhood.

What is your take on Miranda’s red hair? Have you been enjoying “And Just Like That”?
