Best Dressed Redheads at the 2016 Emmys

Redheads never disappoint!

Millions tuned in to watch the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards held in Los Angeles last night, and we were not disappointed.  The big winners were Game of Thrones, Veep, and The People v. O.J. Simpson. Julia Louis-Dreyfus made history with her fifth consecutive win in the lead comedy actress category.  Jimmy Kimmel hosted, and his mom made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for everyone, with hilarious personalized napkin notes for the actors.

But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves and skip over our favorite part of the night: the red carpet.  If you missed it, here’s a brief recap of the five best dressed redheads on the red carpet.

5. Amy Poehler

First of all, I’m still not over how happy I am that Amy Poehler decided to become a redhead!  This auburn mane suits her so well, and although this lacy, embellished Pamella Roland dress is not my favorite look on her, I do love that she chose to wear green–a staple in a redhead’s wardrobe.  And, her hair and makeup was done absolutely beautifully. Poehler completed her look with a Jimmy Choo clutch and Brian Atwood heels.

4.  Grace Gummer

Grace Gummer, of Mr. Robot, wore her red hair to the side in waves and this black, off-the-shoulder Galvan/Swarovski gown with a slit that was slightly reminiscent of that famous Angelina Jolie gown.  She topped off her look with dark red lipstick and Tamara Mellon heels.

3.  Hannah Murray

Hannah Murray pulled back her auburn “Mane of Thrones” and donned a custom powder blue dress by Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini.  I loved her in this color and thought the studded belt added just the right amount of “wildling” to her look.

2.  Connie Britton

At number two is my favorite strawberry-maned actress, Connie Britton.  Britton did what she does best, which is let that gorgeous hair do the talking.  She parted it to the side and let it wave down in curls, and I couldn’t get enough of it!  I was also obsessed with her red Talbot Runhof gown.  With its mermaid-esque waistline and sheer paneling, it was a perfect blend of whimsy and elegance–just right for Britton.

1. Ellie Kemper

Listen, there aren’t very many lists of mine on which Connie Britton would ever be second; she’s pretty much at the top of all of them, which is just further proof of how good Ellie Kemper looked last night to earn this number one spot!  This girl never disappoints on the red carpet, but in this sleeveless yellow dress by Jenny Packman paired with Stuart Weitzman heels, she absolutely killed!  Her bobbed red hair and dark red lipstick brought her look together beautifully.  You may not have won the Emmy, Ellie, but you definitely win my pick for best dressed!

Noticeably absent from our list is a usual-favorite, Sophie Turner.  I was sad to see that Turner has recently traded her dark red waves for blonde.  Hope she’ll rejoin the ranks of her fellow Game of Thrones redheads soon.
