GET BLUNT: The Best Bang Styling Advice for Your Red Hair

By Guest Writer: Kristin from Latest-Hairstyles.com. Edited November 5, 2021

I’m here to tell ya redhead ladies; bangs aren’t going anywhere anytime soon! If you have been resistant to try this hair trend thus far, fall is the time to do it. You don’t have the worry of sweaty bangs sticking to your forehead while your out and about and you’ll have plenty of time to grow them back out before the hot months return.

Bangs aren’t JUST bangs. There are wispy bangs, angled side bangs, the list goes on and on. Our favorite bang trend of the moment is most definitely the super sleek, blunt cut bang.

This bang is super feminine with just the right amount of edge. We consulted bang aficionado and Latest-Hairstyles.com contributor Christi Thomas to bring you the best blunt bang styling advice for redheads:

1. Towel dry your hair and apply a thermal styling spray

‘Redhead Friendly’ Recommendation: Bumble and Bumble’s Styling Lotion for thermal protection, sleekness and hold.

2. It is important to dry your bangs before the rest of your hair.

This will assure that your bangs will lay perfectly the way you want them to. Use a paddle brush or large round brush to dry and straighten the rest of your hair with the blow dryer.

3. Flat iron the hair if needed and apply a workable hairspray.

I always suggest applying a bit of Bumble and Bumble’s Spray de Mode hairspray on your hands, then softly running your fingers and palms over your bangs to keep them perfectly straight. This helps to prevent you from getting unwanted products on your face and allows you to apply the maximum amount of product for hold.

“Depending on your growth patterns (also known as cowlicks), your bangs may want to split down the center or side and drive you absolutely crazy,” warns Christi. “If you have strong growth patterns, you may want to have your stylist cut a heavier bang to allow the weight of the hair to resolve the issue. The weight of a heavier bang will cover the cowlick and fill in where the hair splits due to its growth patterns.”

“Always remember that hair moves, therefore your bangs will move,” Christi adds. “Bangs won’t always lay exactly perfect, but that is part of the fun of having them. They are a bit flirty and quirky!”

Gorgeous red hair AND a trendy, blunt cut bang? You’ll be the source of all fall hair envy.

Rock it like a Redhead!
