7 Redhead-Approved Colors to Embrace This Summer

Step out of your comfort zone!

Updated: March 14, 2023

As redheads, we naturally fit into the color scheme of autumn and the summer months can be a little confusing. Neons and bold colors? You might ask yourself, “Can redheads even wear those colors?” Coordinating your hottest accessory (your hair) with your summer attire is easy with these Redhead-Approved colors to embrace this summer:

1. Raspberry sorbet

Just the name makes me want to sit outside with a frozen drink while feeling the summer breeze. This vibrant pink will look amazing on any redhead, as it will offset our fair skin by adding an extra pop of color to our day. If you need more convincing, check out Emma Stone in this raspberry sorbet skirt.

2. Sky blue

Blue and orange sit across from one another in the color wheel, making them complementary colors. Bring out the bold copper tones in your hair with a soft sky blue. Not only will it complement your hair, but it will compliment your fair skin as well.

3. Rust

While typically seen as a fall color, Marie Claire gives rust a new spotlight as one of their top colors to wear this summer. A lover of rust-colored clothes, I say this is a color for all seasons. As a great complement to your red hair, rust complements your skin tone and helps make your hair shine bright. This off-red is a perfect way to mix up the typical brighter red we wear regularly.

4. Emerald

A classic redhead shade that never disappoints. Just ask TikTok:

5. Mint

A round-up of the top summer colors for redheads would not be complete without green on the list. While not as intense as emerald green, this is still the perfect shade to complement our red hair while embracing nature this summer. This mint-green organic cotton maxi dress is ideal for any redhead spending the day out with friends.

6. Orange

As a redhead, you’ve probably been told to stay away from orange all your life, but what complements red hair better than orangey tones? Opt for a peachier orange or a more burnt orange instead of traffic cone orange and you’ll look like a ray of sunshine.

7. Bright White

Don’t be afraid to wear white as a redhead. While many say that the color can wash a redhead out, the perfect accessories and make-up are the key to rocking white. Black might be the go-to for the colder months, but nothing makes red hair pop like crisp white in the summer. Julianne Moore frequently wears white and never fails to rock the shade. Just check out her outfit from the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

White will enhance the look of your red hair and it will also give your skin a little extra color.

Rock it like a Redhead!
